Anthony F. Cordeiro wins top SouthCoast Chamber honor

One SouthCoast Chamber has selected Anthony F. Cordeiro as the recipient of the Roger Valcourt Outstanding Citizen Award, which will be presented during an awards dinner on Sept. 16 at Venus de Milo in Swansea.

The recognition honors individuals with a longstanding record of volunteerism and leadership in the region, according to a community announcement. The annual award commemorates Roger Valcourt, a business and community leader whose legacy has been recognized through the chamber’s Outstanding Citizen Award program since his death in 1979.

Cordeiro founded Anthony F. Cordeiro Insurance Agency LLC in 1987 at age 24 and has built a business portfolio that includes insurance, real estate and development companies throughout the Greater Fall River area. He currently serves as president and CEO of Anthony F. Cordeiro Insurance Agency LLC, Cordeiro Properties LLC and Downtown Development Companies LLC.

His development work includes Commonwealth Landing, a mixed-use project featuring 103 market-rate apartments, and Downtown Lofts, a collection of five mixed-use properties with 146 apartments in downtown Fall River. As managing partner of more than 30 limited liability corporations, Cordeiro oversees more than $130 million in real estate assets.

Cordeiro earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and later received an MBA in finance from Bryant University. He also holds multiple insurance and real estate licenses and is a certified chartered pension professional.

According to the announcement, Cordeiro has served in leadership positions with organizations including Child & Family Services, St. Anne’s Hospital, the Fall River Office of Economic Development and the Southeastern Massachusetts Heart Association.

He is also founder and chairman of the Anthony F. Cordeiro Charitable Foundation, which has provided more than $300,000 to local nonprofit organizations during the past nine years, according to the announcement.

Businesses, organizations and residents are invited to attend the Roger Valcourt Memorial Dinner honoring Cordeiro. The event will begin with registration at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and the formal program at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $75 and are available through onesouthcoast.com.

One SouthCoast Chamber describes the Outstanding Citizen Award as its highest honor within the business community. The award is presented annually to an individual whose volunteer service and leadership have made a measurable and lasting contribution to the SouthCoast region, according to the announcement.
