Cordeiro Properties has secured nearly $10 million in financing from Rockland Trust Co. to convert the historic Merrill Building in Fall River into 36 apartments. The project will transform three floors of the 146-year-old mill, located at 66 Troy Street, into modern living spaces, including 23 studios and 16 one-bedroom units. The renovation is expected to be completed by early fall 2025.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by Cordeiro Properties to revitalize historic buildings in the area, addressing the growing demand for housing on the South Coast. The company has previously undertaken similar projects, and the Merrill Building’s renovation aims to honor its architectural history while providing desirable housing options. The first-floor tenant, Southeast Center for Independent Living, will continue its lease during the renovations.
