Anthony Cordeiro, a real estate developer, is set to transform a former used car lot and auto body shop on Bedford Street in Fall River into a five-story mixed-use building. The project will feature 52 market-rate apartments and an adult day center, occupying nearly half a block between Seventh and Eighth streets. The Zoning Board of Appeals has approved the necessary variances and special permits to facilitate this development, which will also include 74 parking spaces.

The new building will consist of various apartment types, including one, two, and three-bedroom units, aimed at meeting the demand for market-rate housing in the area. The investment, estimated at over $20 million, is expected to positively impact the local economy and enhance neighborhood stability. Cordeiro’s project aligns with his broader vision for downtown Fall River, where he owns several other properties, indicating a commitment to expanding the city’s housing options and supporting economic development.
